Is Tetraysal For Acne Affect The Fetus During Pregnancy?

Hi. I am on tetraysal for acne but at the same time I am trying to conceive so also on folic acid and pre natal vits. The dermatologist said that this will not interfere with me getting preg but ass soon as I miss my period I should stop as it can be harmful to baby. Please advise.

Hi,

Yes, it is not safe during pregnancy. Tetralysal is a tetracycline antibiotic commonly prescribed to treat acne. If used during pregnancy it can cause harmful effects in the growing baby hence it should be avoided as soon as you missed your period.
