Is There A Good Chance Of Conceiving With Intercourse Every Alternate Day?

Hi Doc,i have been ttc for almost a year and did one iui last month but got my periods only for a day and went to doc to do ultrasound for my next iui,doc had found one 12 mm follicle on my right ovary and 2 follicle one with 11 mm and She said my ovary wall is thick and told me that i don t do iui this cycle and have to rest my uterus..told to have intercourse every alternate day..is that a good chance to conceive..

Yes, if it is not a problem for you! this gap allows spermatozoa to acquire the ability to fertilize the egg. And nature has provided a wonderful mechanism in the neck of the uterus (cervix) to ensure supply of spermatozoa for a prolonged period. There are small reservoirs in the cervix which store the spermatozoa and release them sequentially for several hours, so that sperms are available for fertilization when the egg is released. Ejaculation every other day refills these reservoirs and ensure almost a continuous availability of spermatozoa for fertilization.
However, please note that this is neither a MUST, nor a fool-proof assurance. The idea behind is to do everything possible to increase your chances of conceiving.
The other issues - that of the size of the follicle and thick ovarian wall etc - will be taken care of by your doc.
