Itching, Open Sore On Penis, Hard Lump On Foreskin. Diagnosed As Contact Dermatitis. Prescribed Steroid Cream
i had an issue with itching and an almost open sore on my penis after sex (married no other partners for 10 years). I thought I had a yeast infection but the dermatologist said it was contact dermatitis and prescribed steroid cream for a week followed by lotion. I now have a hard lump on the foreskin in the area where I experienced pain and itching. any ideas?

Contact dermatitis means it is allergic to something used by the individual. Contact dermatitis over genitals is rare. It may occur due to condom or due to some other applications including lubricants.
If you don't have such history, the pain and itching could be due to an yeast infection following intercourse with your spouse. For that, you both have to take treatment simultaneously with anti-fungal creams and oral anti-fungal tablets for not less than a period of 3 weeks. If you are a diabetic, then it has to be controlled and some other drugs also may predispose yeast infection.
Both these conditions will not be a cause for the hard lump on the foreskin. It may be due to some other skin problem like sebaceous cyst etc.
Follow further your Dermatologist, he could be able to guide you better.

Pain and itching seems to be development of fungal infection under steroid .
According to me avoid steroid at present and start local cream containing neomycin,miconazole. Oral anti fungal like flucanazole-150,terbinaforce to subside fungal infection,nsaid with levocetrizine to subside itching,pain and inflammation.
You and your wife should take azithromycin,secnidazole and flucanazole kit.
Keep proper local hygiene.Avoid tight under garment.
Keep in touch with your doctor.
