Hi and thanks for the query,
If there swelling occurred only after the accident, there is a large possibility that this should be a hematoma. A hematoma is a collection and hardening of blood within a tissue. It is possible that during the accident, some blood had to leak through traumatized vessels into the surrounding muscles. This increase in size of the muscle is accompanied by inflammation and could explain the pain that you are experiencing. Compression of nearby nerves could explain other pain and neurologic symptoms. An ultrasound and a clinical evaluation by your neurologist could be helpful. Kind regards
