General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Painful, dark brown lump around the anus and discharge from the anus is most likely caused by an abscess or rectal fistula. Due to local soft tissues infection and inflammation, the pus appears. Every pus accumulation is very painful. If it is mixed with blood can be dark brown or grey. It grows in time when left without medical attention. You may also have pain when passing the stool.

This condition really needs to be treated by a surgeon so please dont treat it as something embarrassing and visit your doctor. An incision should be done and pus evacuated.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
