Lump Inside My 3 Years Old Son's Stomach. What Should I Do ?

Hi. My son is 3 years old and about a year ago my husband and I noticed a samll lump inside his body about halfway down his abdomen . It doesnt seem to bother him and it hasnt grown in size. He has been to the doctor they have felt his stomach and never said anything about it. My son is very healthy at this point and growing very well he is in the 75th percintile for his age. My concern however is that after all this time why hasnt it gone away or even shrunk in size? What could it be? What should I do?

Hello;
welcome to HealthcareMagic
If a lump is externally palpable;painless;and asymptomatic then most of the time it can be a Lipoma(it is a harmless tumor or swelling made of fat tissue );in that case no need to worry.Since you are worried please get examined your son by your paediatrician and point it to him and he will tell you after examination what exactly it is.Presently no need to worry but whenever you visit his doctor remember to show it to the doctor.
Take care
Thanks

Pediatrician Dr. Diana Divakar's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic....Hope you find the answers to your querries here....
Well, regarding your child, the lump palpable in the abdomen could be just a simple lipoma !! Is the swelling present all the while or is it seen more prominently on straining?? It must not be anything significant most probably, but if it is associated with pain or increases in size on straining, it could very well be a hernia(contents of the abdominal cavity coming through a weakness in the abdominal muscle wall) which is reducible. Kindly reassess and get back to me if in doubt. I will be always available to answer your queries.Take care. bye.
