Occasional Shortness Of Breath And Sweating With Pain After Intake Of Food, Increased Swallowing, Slight Back Pain, Heartburn. EKG Report Normal. Anxiety Attack?

Hello,

A few weeks (right afetr I ate Italian) ago I had an attack in my abdomen area where I felt shortness of breath and sweating with pain. 30 minutes and a couple of tums later it went away. No problems until 2 days later in happended again, maybe 2 hours after breakfast. Went to my PCP and he though I had an esophegeal stricture. Hasn't happened again for 2 weeks. However, off and on I feel a tightness in my chest, usually in the afternoon. I feel like I have increased swallowing with more saliva and sometimes some dull back pain. I have also had heartburn (which I usually don't) a few times. I nhad my heart checked with an EKG and it seemed fine. I have been stressed out the last few months with the passing of my mom and handling her estate. Now I think (my wife does anyway) that I am increasing my situation with a little health anxiety. Thanks for any input

Rheumatologist 's  Response
Hi !
Thank you for your query.

Looking into your problem it suggests that you could be suffering from acid peptic disease which could have been precipitated by excess anxiety . But you need to rule out cardiac disorder . Since your ECG is normal I advise you to meet a gastroenterologist or physician and get an upper GI ENDOSCOPY to rule out any evidence of acid peptic disease . Till then i advise you to have non spicy diet , taking small meals and not to lie just after having food . Still you must a cardiologist to look for any cardiac disorder.

If you have any further queries feel free to ask.
Wish you good health.
Take care.
