On And Off Sleepiness And Fatigue After Taking Levothyroxine. TSH 3.85 Before Starting Medicine. On Prozac And Clonazapam. Suggest
I began taking 25mg Levothyroxine 9 days ago and find myself sleeping more during the day, then another day I will have energy. Is this typical when beginning the use of the medication? My TSH was 4.8 in Jan '13, two weeks ago it was 3.85 before the medication was started. My physician had missed the earlier lab work diagnosis in Jan indicating a hypothyroid, until I spoke with him about extreme fatigue at an appt two weeks ago today.
FYI I take 30 mgs of Prozac and .5 mg of Clonazapam.
Anti thyroid pills will not cause fatigue and sleepiness. It is most likely to be the side effect of clonazepam which you are on. Kindly approach your doctor for a dose modification for the same I would like to add here that tsh upto 8 is considered to be sub clinical rang and usually not treated. Please see an Endocrinolgist with a freeT4 report
