On Antibiotic For UTI. Discomfort And Sensitive Clitoris, Reduced Burning Sensation While Urinating. Normal?

Hello, I am currently on a antibiotic for a UTI and only have two more days left on it. The burning and pain when urinating has gone away but I still have some discomfort on my clitoris off and on through the day. When I'm walking around or even laying down it feels sensitive. I'm not sure if this is normal and I'm hoping it goes away.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

As you have been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection (UTI), have already been on antibiotic therapy for at least 3 days (assuming), and most importantly have already been experiencing a response to the medication, it is best to continue the antibiotic therapy, but do consult your doctor before the last dose, as some individuals do not experience a complete response to the advised course of antibiotics within a given time. In such cases a prolonged course is advised (i.e. 2-3 days more of antibiotic therapy).

Now during an infection either of the genitalia or the urinary tract the clitoris can become sensitive. Do not worry about this. I would advice you to also add a urine alkalizer (eg. citralka) to your treatment regimen, but only after consultation of your doctor, this should greatly help. The sensitivity of your clitoris will surely disappear with the infection, if treated appropriately.

Continue to drink plenty of water as well. I am sure you will be fine soon. I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
