Operated For Hiatus Hernia. Burning Sensation In Oseophagus While Lying On Bed. Why?

Hi I had an operation for hiatus hernia 2 years ago and have on-going symptoms that when I'm lying in bed
I get a hot burning feeling stretching from my osteophigus (the tube that takes food into your stomach) right down to my bladder! I only get relief when I get out of bed.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The burning feeling and the stretching feeling that you have at the lower end of the esopahgus could be due to a post surgical scar tissue in the area. Erosion of the esophageal mucosa can also cause these symptoms.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. You can consult me again directly through my profile URL http://bit.ly/Dr-Praveen-Tayal
