Pain In The Back And Leg After Falling Off From Stairs Along With Tightness, Burning & Numbness?
I fell a week ago on a stair and my lower back hit the step really hard. I didn't go to hospital thinking it would get better. The pain is a mixture of tightness burning and occasionally sharp. On a scale of 1-10 the peak pain is about an 8.5. I can't lay on my back for too long and if I move my left leg a certain way I get the sharp pain. There is a lot of dark bruising mostly on the left side towards the middle. There is a certain spot where there is numbness. The pain began getting better then it began getting worse again. I am 23 years old and am starting to worry and have no health insurance.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello. Thanks for posting your query. From description it seems soft tissue injury or ligamentous injury over your lower back. You need bed rest for few days which helps in healing. I advice you- • Lie on a hard bed. • Anti -inflammatory drug like ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation. • Avoid forward bending. • Avoid strenuous activity & lifting heavy weights. • Apply diclofenac gel on the affected area. Wishing you good health Regards.
