Pain In Throat, Spitting Bloody Phlegm. Taken Amoxicillin, Temporary Relief. Solution For Pain?

I ve got a pain in the right side of my throat when I swallow . I keep spitting out phlegm , sometimes it s yellow, sometimes bloody, sometimes clear. Sometimes I have like black strands in it too. Went to the doctors last week, was given antibiotics. I was on amoxicillin for one week, I thought I was better, I stopped 2 days ago but now I feel Ill again.

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding pain in throat on swallowing with bloody phlegm. I had also thought about your treatment you have already taken.

I am suspecting that you are probably having acute upper respiratory tract infection. Recurrence of your problem is because of break in treatment.

To confirm the diagnosis and to manage it you are advice for-

1- Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.

2- X-Ray Paranasal sinuses.

3- X-Ray chest.

4- Blood- CBC, ESR, Prothrombin time, blood sugar (F & PP).

Till the investigation reports are awaited you may take-

1- Tab Paracetamol.

2- Warm saline gargling.

3- Mucolytic expectorant.

4- It will be better to take antibiotics according to culture and sensitivity of throat swab.
