Pain In Xyphoid. Variable Diagnoses. What Is The Problem?
I have had pain in the xyphoid for over a year and have had numerous tests and my gastroenterologist cannot figure out what it is. First he said I had IBS with an infection in the bowel, then it was inguinal hernia and just recently he said it was sludge (I have no gallbladder..taken out in 1981). I am at my witts end and don't know what else to do. All they want to do is give me pain medication. I want to know what the problem is not mask it.

Pain In Xyphoid. Variable Diagnoses. What Is The Problem?
Hello, If the pain in the Xiphisternum is associated with heartburn it may be due to gastritis. If may be inflammation of the costochondral junction of the rib(Costochondritis). You may need an 1. X ray chest 2. endoscopy of the upper GI tract to arrive at a diagnosis.
