Pregnant. Have Cold, Itchy Vagina, Swelling, Discomfort, Smelly Discharge, Yeast Infection. Herpes Test Negative. What Is It?
I am 4 and a half months pregnant....I had a cold most of last week, and I have a vagina that is very itchy, swolled, and generally uncomfortable, as well as a very thick white mild smelling discharge. My doctor did a test for Herpes and today results came back negative. However, he thought that is was an external yeast infection anyway, and Im just waiting for those results. Would a yeast infection be causing all of this.....and I have also noticed mild back pain, and itchiness on my skin.
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Yes, yeast infection can present with white discharge, itching etc.
As immunity will be decreased in pregnancy, the possibility of infections will increase.
And any type of infection during pregnancy should be treated early and completely.
So if the result comes positive for yeast infection start taking tablets.
Some amount of back ache is common in pregnancy. If the pain is severe you can go for analgesics and physiotherapy.
