Premenopausal Stage, Irregular Periods, Bleeding During Intercourse. Cause?

I just turned 50 in September, I have had some irregular cycles this year. I had some bleeding during intercourse and was wondering what could be some causes. If it might be because of premenopausal stage. It was a bright red, and it hasn't happen before. I have an apt with my Dr. this month, which had been set up before this happened. But, I would like to know what might have caused this to happen.

Hi.Thanks for posting us on HCM.
Although the menstrual period might become irregular during menopause you should be alert for abnormal bleeding which might signal a problem not related perimenopause like heavy bleeding, bleeding that lasts longer than normal, bleeding that occurs after sex or between periods.Common causes are endometrial polyps, changes in the lining of the uterus (thinning/thickening of endometrium). However you may prepone your appointment if you feel the bleeding is abnormal.Hope this helps.Take care.
