Prescribed Citalopram For Anxiety And Depression. On Second Day Of Periods. Intake Of Medication Advised?

Hi. I have a prescription for citalopram here, prescribed to hopefully eliminate my debilitating physical symptoms the doc claims are merely due to anxiety and depression (including nausea, fatigue, insomnia, malaise, panic attacks, pms, adrenaline surges, heart palps, digestive issues, night chills, etc) -- but I am on the second day of my period (the heaviest, worst day) and don't know if I should start the citalopram today. I am also still a little skeptical that it will help and not entirely sure i should take it at all. Any advice?

Hi
You are suffering from Premenstrual syndrome(PMS). Citalopram is an antidepressant drug of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class which can be used in severe form of PMS. It is preferably prescribed as intermittent than continuous therapy. It can be taken 1 or 2 day before the expected date of mens or when one starts experiencing symptoms of PMS.
