Radius Bone Broken, Plate, Screws Inserted, Kept Arm Stable In Splint. When To Start Physical Therapy, Remove Plate?

on October 4th I fell and broke my radius midway up the bone, on October 13th I had surgery and had a plate put in with 6 screws, I realize it is not wise but afterwards I did not follow up with my doctor, I kept my arm stable in a splint and kept the surgical site clean, my main question is how long should I wait before I start rigorous physical therapy also should I schedule to have the plate removed? I am 20 years old in extremely active in participating in several extreme sports. and do not plan to let this affect me at all. thank you very much for your help

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
Orthopedic injury with surgical procedure like in your case may take three to four week for healing but the splint can be removed after five weeks or six weeks, after that you can go for physiotherapy, it may take at least 7 to 8 week for normal activity, if every thing goes unremarkable, 7 & 8 weeks not a big deal enjoy the vocation, good luck.
