Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am writing about my 9 month old son. I had socks on him the other night when he went to bed (he kicks the blanket off, so I try to keep him as warm as I can). I happened to notice a small red line (just looks like a small red scratch) which I figured was from the socks leaving a mark. Well it's been a few days and it is still there so I read up about it a little online and seen that this can be common with babies and the socks. My question is will it go away? The way I'm understanding is that it's somewhat like a bruise underneath the skin or broken blood vessels. Also, is there anything that I should be doing, ice, warm cloths, etc ? Hes in absolutely no pain from it and like I mentioned its a very small red scratch looking line on the back of the calf. Thank you!!
The pressure of the socks can be the culprit of causing the bruise like effect on the leg. If it is actually a bruise then it shall take about 5-7 days for the mark to disappear. Since it is not hurting your son you can wait and watch. There is not need to apply anything on the mark.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
