Removed Tampon. Vaginal Swelling And Itching. Is It Yeast Infection?
Hi, On the last day of my period, I went too remove my tampon , I was slightly dry and kind of itchy. Later that day I noticed I was red, swollen and extremely itchy. It s been day 3 now and I still have the same symptoms. It s tender so I can t wipe although it doesn t hurt when I pee... I have discharge but it doesn t smell. I don t know what s going on :( my friend told me too try monistat 3 but if I don t have a yeast infection would it be harmful?
It seems that you have an infection. They may occur with the use of tampons and are more common if tamponsa are not changed twice a day.
As of now, it is best if you see a doctor and get tested for infection as it would be easier to prescribe drugs after that. However if you are not able to see a doctor soon, a mixed vaginal tablet containing clotrimazole, clindamycin and tinidazole or metronidazole [ clingen forte is the brand name] may be inserted once at night for 6 days. You may also need antibiotics that will be prescribed by your doctor.
Other measures include keepinf the perineum clean, use of mild antiseptic wipes and changing the undergarments twcie daily and washing them with hot water to prevent reinfeciton.
