Severe Constipation, Painful Internal And External Hemorrhoids. Need Surgery?

Ok so ive been constipated for 1 month but have been able to pass stool (difficult) but last on Thursday I went to the toilet and it was very painful and my hemorrhoid poped out. So I just changed what I ate with more fiber n water. I went to see my gp on monday and he said I had an external hemorrhoid and it was infected. He prescribed me panadene fort and iontment for the pain and an antibiotics for the infection/hemmerhiod and also microflex witch is to help the pass of stool. However today is Wednesday and I still havnt taken a stool since Tuesday. The pain relief does not work and I havnt notice any change in the hemorrhoid and ive also found out today that I have 2 internal hemorrhoids. Ive also tried prune juice, almonds n drank plenty of water...but nothing. Would I need to have surgery? And how much longer can it build up for? I usually go once a day.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

There is no other treatment than surgery to completely solve hemorrhoids problem. Other ways are only good to ease the symptoms and make them less visible, however it wont make them disappear. So yes, you will need a surgery in this area.
But before the surgery, it is important to find out the reason of your constipation and get rid of them. Constipation can be caused by bad diet (low fiber intake, low mineral water intake), chronic bacterial infection, thyroid disease, medicines (Ca-blockers, antidepressants), inflammatory bowels disease, colon cancer.
As no medicines are helping, you need some diagnostics. I suggest you to visit gastroenterologist and have some tests done. Stool tests, blood work, abdominal ultrasound and colonoscopy seems to be necessary.
Without getting rid of constipation, no treatment wont help with hemorrhoids.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
