Severe Shivering Days After Starting Fever, Body Rashes, Tests Showed Positive Dengue. Reason?
Doctor, My mother she is 65 years old. Having fever in the range of 100-102 degree Fahrenheit every 6 hours. Fever gets reduced after she has crocin and then comes back after 6 hrs Now, after 5 days she developed shivering , her whole body has been shivering. She is ns1ad( dengue ) positive, however her plate late count is in range of 1,88,000 She has rashes on herb body too. Now, is this shivering due to dengue. If yes, why did it happen after 5 days of being in fever. Regards, Sheulide

Shivering is also part of fever - muscles contracting in an attempt to produce heat / often we feel it before we feel the fever.
There is no specific treatment for Dengue. Symptomatic treatment and watchful expectancy is all important. We have to WATCH FOR BLEEDING - rash could be bleeding in the skin (purpura) > Your doctor is the best one to see and assess/ repeat platelets often - till a trend towards increase becomes clear.
Watch for new symptoms - cough etc - at this time, the virus is likely to wane and secondary bacterial infections may set in. Any change is a prompt to see the doctor again
Generally, she ought to do well
