Hi!
I read very carefully your query.

My opinion is that you should worry about your son's diarrhea because the presence of mucus, leukocytes(wbc),blood(rbc) in your son's fecal sample shows that this is dysentery caused by a parasite called entamoeba histolytica.
This cases are diagnosed by finding cysts shed with the stool. The majority of cases don’t progress any further than this, and can be treated with antibiotics, but on rare occasions the parasites burrow into the bloodstream and con cause further damage.

Your son should be treated with antibiotics. Metronidazole(Flagyl) is the usual antibiotic that is used . A second drug, usually diloxanide furoate, is then used to get rid of any parasites that may still be living in your son's gut. After treatment is completed, testing of a follow-up stool sample is advised to ensure that the parasites have been cleared.

Considering the high frequency of defecation your son is at risk of becoming dehydrated. Dehydration means there is a lack of fluid in your body. It can occur if the water and salts that are lost in your stools are not replaced by your drinking adequate fluids. You may take special rehydration drinks. They are made from sachets that you can buy from pharmacies.

Recommended dosage: Metronidazole 750 mg three times a day orally, for 5 to 10 days FOLLOWED BY Paromomycin 30 mg/kg/day orally in 3 equal doses for 5 to 10 days or Diloxanide furoate 500 mg 3 times a day orally for 10 days, to eradicate lumenal amoebae and prevent relapse.
I wrote you the treatment but in my opinion your son needs to see a doctor so he can evaluate the gravity of this infection by examining your son and he will give you the right tretment.
Your doctor will advise you about how much fluid and what type of fluids you should drink.

Hope I have answered your query.if you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Take care.
