Should I Start Hormonal Therapy And Discontinue Forteo Since Have Stopped Taking The Latter A Month Ago?
I have been on Forteo for one year, but I missed a month. I am wondering is it ok to resume it? But I am wondering if I should continue on it, due to whole bone cancer thing. I am only 49 and have had an hysterectomy.. I have no symptoms thought to early menopause, except, of course need of estrogen. Should I just stop the Forteo and look into hormonal treatment? I am not having any hot flashes, and I have no fractures.
Hello.Teriparatide is not related to bone cancer, only its use should be avoided in people with a history of bone cancer. Hormone replacement therapy with estrogens improves symptoms as hot flashes, vaginal dryness but is less effective in preventing osteoporosis. Teriparatide is effective in preventing osteoporosis but not improve the symptoms of menopause. Your gynecologist should decide about to take one or other drug.I wish you good health.
