Should I Go To The Emergency Room If I Have Chest Pain Due To GERD?

I haven experiencing server center chest pains from the upper thoart to the diaphragm. I have Gerd and have been told that my stomach has herniated thru the diaphragm. The pain is kinda like when your chest burns after you run a long ways. I have taken Maalox and Motin and it only helps when I set up foor a while with little activity. Should I go to the emergency room?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Yes you should go to the ER. But not because of GERD chest pain, but because the pain you have can be caused by heart attack or heart ischemic disease. Especially if the pain radiates to the left arm or jaw, you have shortness of breath and sweating.
Please consult your doctor as soon as possible. Heart ECG and heart enzymes should be checked. If any changes in this tests, you should consult cardiologist.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
