My wife is playing with 2 month old pomarenian dog and is bitten on the calf (above the heel). The dog dont have anti rabies injection yet. Does it mean that wife will be vaccinated. She did not clean the wound after the bite. This is the third day now.

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

Rabies is 100% fatal but it is 100% preventable by proper and adequate treatment and this is transmitted by dog bite.

As your wife was bit by a 2 month old dog while playing over the calf which was not vaccinated against rabies and first aid treatment was not given. The first thing to be done following the dog bite is thorough washing of the wound which was not done.

For your wife condition I would suggest her to follow

1.Active immunization with antirabies vaccine on days 0,3,7,14 and 28.
2.Passive immunization with RIGs around the wound,if there is a any bleeding.
3.Oral antibiotic like Tab Bactoclav, twice daily
4.Topical Metrogy ointment.
Thank you.
