Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Small Child, Cold, Conjunctivitis In Right Eye, Fever, Nasal Discharge. Viral Infection?
My two year old daughter had fever and cold . She was taking medicine for a day and the next day she got conjuctivitis in her right eye. My doctor says it usually happens with a viral fever. Her temparature was initially 99 when she got cold, but now it is 101 and she continues to have a running nose even after having medicine for the past two days.
Hello I have gone through your complaints. Yes your child seems to a viral infection which will have watery of eyes, fever and running nose. Sometimes they may be associated with cough. If the watering of eyes are associated with any pus discharge or if the fever still continues as high as now and if the activity decreases then it indicates secondary bacterial infection. You can watch for another day and if your child has any of the following features you need to attend your doctor.
Thank you. Good day
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Your daughter is having fever, running nose, conjunctivitis ,all these are apart of viral illness.and it takes few days to settle.
I suggest you to give paracetamol every 6 hourly till fever is above 100F,give plenty of fluids.
For eye care gently clean with cotton properly sterlized in boiling water for 15 min.
In case symptoms persist get her examined by pediatrician to rule out any secondary bacterial infection and treat it accordingly.
