Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 1 year old daughter has been experiencing cough and her chest or throat appears to hurt when she coughs. Her highest fever has been 102.5 which I have controlled with tylenol & ibuprofen . she also has stuffy and runny nose which is mainly clear in color but green at times. she just got off an antibiotic because of ear infections she had but continues to be the same.
Hi,
Your child seems to have been suffering from an upper respiratory tract infection. Tylenol and ibuprofen have no added benefits over tylenol alone.Ibuprofen has its own side effects so give it judiciously.
My advice would be to use a nasal decongestant for the runny nose which is commonest cause for cough at this age. If she coughs pretty bad or has wheeze get a chest X ray done. Otherwise paracetamol, nasal decongestants along with a mild cough syrup should help your baby tide over the problem.Hope you find this helpful.Wishing her a speedy recovery.
