Sore Fingers, Painful, Lifting Weight. How Can I Relieve The Pain?

Two weeks ago, I started a job at FedEx loading trucks (i.e. lifting 1,000+ packages per night ranging from 8oz to 50lbs).

My fingers have become very sore and painful when I do certain movements (e.g. touching them to my palm, snapping my fingers, opening small bottle caps).

The pain eases SLIGHTLY during the day as I sleep/rest but after my next shift it's back. It also seems to be getting progressively worse (in tiny increments) each day.

What can I do to relieve the current pain? And prevent future pain?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! The pain possibly is due to muscle and tendon strain due to un-accostomed heavy work by your hand and fingers as it started after your new job which entails lifting of heavy articles. I would suggest you to go for some OTC anti inflammatory drugs to relieve the pain and inflammation of your hand for the present. If however, it persists for a longer duration, then you have to see your family physician, who may advise you for some kind of hand physiotherapy, and some tests if need be. Wishing you an early recovery.
