Soreness And Bruising In Some Areas Of Legs, Pain In Knees. History Of A Job Which Requires Lot Of Standing. Normal?

I am a server and now a manager and have to stand and walk for several hours on end. I know my legs may not be use to it but it happens occasionally that if I stand for a whole my legs will feel sore and bruise in some areas probably in some areas where I put more pressure. My knees cause pain as well. Is there a problem or is this normal and just need to work out and get use to being on my legs?

Hi,
Your working needs lot of standing /walking to which you are not used to.The standing posture brings about stgnation of venous flow. this brings about a condition called Vericosities ,if its unattended. you can add few things in your life style to enhase venous drainage....
* Start doing exersizes daily for 45 mts. speceially
. walking/leg raising/ cycling in sleeping posture with legs raised &folded in knee/sitting on a chair & trying to draw letters A,B,C....,
*Take pillow under feet when you sleep.
while working ,have a short break try to put your feet on a stool/do the feet work outs as describewd earlier,
* Try to reduce weight. have healthy,balanced diet with creamless milk,pulses,cereals, lot of fresh vegetables & fruits .
* Take vitamins& calcium suppliments.
* all of this along with exersizes for knee joint will help pain in knee also
Some pain killers can be taken, but if you need them, better to cosutlt a physician/orthopedic Dr. for expert advice.
Thank you
