Suggest Proper Diet And Exercise To Avoid Health Risks

I'm concerned about my health, particularly my heart. Since late 2006, most of my focus has been my weight; it's seen me through anorexia, binge-eating disorder, and currently bulimia. In an attempt to shift this focus and control my weight, I got myself caught up in drugs, smoking, and other stimulants, which have only worsened my overall health. Now I'm at a point where I feel confused about what I should be eating, how much I should be exercising, and how to avoid any further health risks I might be in danger of in the future.

Hello and thank you for your question. The first focus in this case is for you to make sure that you are seeing a counselor or therapist that is skilled in treating bulimia. You must first recover from the eating disorder in order to get at a stable healthy weight. Of course avoiding smoking and illegal substances is crucial for your future good health. Here some suggestions to get you started. Do some exercise every day even if it is only walking for 15 minutes, but try to build up to walking for 30 minutes daily. Take a multivitamin, extra vitamin C and an omega 3 fatty acid supplement like fish oil. The Vitamin C and fish oil act as antioxidants and can help reparir some of the damage done to your body. Drink at least 6 large glasses of water daily. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and avoid sweets and highly processed foods. Good luck to you
