Suggest Remedy For Acne And Blackheads On Nose In A Child

My daughter is 8 years old and has acne on her nose and blackheads around tho outer edges of her nose. We have tried blackhead scrubs, facial cleanser and currently trying Proactive. It seems odd to me for an 8 year old to have this problem. Any suggestions for clearing them up?

Hi there,

Although it seems odd, it is not. Your daughter is entering the adoloscence although not enough mature. It might be a sign of hormonal imbalance, perhaps getting ready for the first menstruation.

I usually recommend to my patients to take good care of their diet:
- avoid foods like chocolate, rich in fatty and sugar
- control her hormonal level
As she is only 8 years old, further evaluation by a dermatologist pediatrician is needed.

All the best!
