I have a Yorkie, he has been diagnosed with colitis 3 mon s ago and has been ok, had blood test...month ago said it was all ok, however last few days has had a very soft stool and a little blood. he only gets a special diet canned food and boiled chicken breast mixed in. My vet has me giving him amoxicillin . What am I missing here also, he had the systems of throwing up and bloody stool for off and on for 2 years, until I went to a vet hospital and they told me his problem.. is there a food I should be giving him? appreciate any help!!!
Hi You aresuffering from dysentry.Dysentery is a type of gastroenteritis that results in diarrhea with blood.It is an intestinal inflammation, especially in the colon, that can lead to severe diarrhea with mucus or blood in the fecesBacillary dysentery or shigellosis caused by shigella bacteria Other type of dysentry is amoebic dysentery. Advice Tablet Cilocin 500mg twice daily Tab Metronidazole twice daily for 7 days. Get a stool routine and microscopy and stool for occult blood test done. Moxicillin by itself causes loose stools so avoid using it.Take antibiotics as adviced. Easily digestible food should be taken,Try to avoid meat and go for fresh vegetables. Boil water before drinking. Take a probiotic daily.
