Hello,

You are having easy bruising in the arms and also protruding veins. Easy bruises occurs due to bleeding disorders, deficiency of vitamin C and K, genetic (runs in families), aging because blood vessels become weaker and the skin thins as one ages. You should take balanced home made food rich in vitamin C and K. Avoid alcohol intake. Certain medications (like blood thinners, heparin, warfarin, etc.) may cause a person to bleed and bruise more frequently. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP.

Take X-rays to detect any bone fractures, do the required blood tests to check vitamin deficiencies and clotting disorders. You will be treated accordingly. Be careful of all the medicines you have been taking. To prevent easy bruising, wear protective gear like helmets and pads. Take rest and elevate the injured area to prevent swelling and for relief from pain. To get rid of protruding veins, you should do regular exercises.

Lose weight if obese. Repeated strain, injury can also cause swelling, blue color, heaviness, and pain in the arm. If there is a blood clot under the armpit, the skin in that area will be warm, swollen with blue hue to the skin. You may also feel heaviness and pain in the arms. Take acetaminophen, one stat for relief. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
