Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
64 year old male with type 2 diabetes, heart disease and HB pressure, has been vomiting and diarreah for 2 days. Low grade fever, chills, congested cough and sore throat. I can't get him to go to ER have doctors appointment tomorrow at 3:40pm. He cannot keep anything down. I bought a power-aid type drink with low sugar 5mg and sodium is 240, concerned about kidneys and the sodium being diabetic. Is there anything else I can give him to keep him hydrated?? Any suggestions you have to help me get him through the night.

Suggest Remedy For Dehydration
Hello, As there is vomiting, primary need is to give anti emetic medicine as Ondancetron ( 4mg ) with sips of water on empty stomach. After intake of this medicine, 1 hour nothing has to be given, later give sips of water, green tea, coconut water like fluids in sessions. Consult later your doctor at earliest for best possible management. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
