Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I get headaches that affect my right side neck muscles upto and including an earache about twice a week. I can feel them coming on as my back tightens and they will get full blown about two hours after that. They last approximately 8 hours. I have a bright red blood flow (bowel discharged) usually before or after each of these episodes. I have had medications for this but none has worked. I find some relief through massage -especially shiatsu and deep tissue. I am 67 and have had a hip replaced. What is your guess re the cause of these episodes. I also have arthritis.
Your symptoms could be related to high blood pressure or tension type headache. I recommend you to closely monitor your blood pressure values during these episodes and performing a cervical spine X-ray study in order to investigate for possible chronic degeneration of the cervical vertebral column.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
