Pediatrician, Surgery 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. If your grandson overall growth is fine and his facial appearence is good , if you are in favour of waiting , no harm. But Adenoids at this age should be removed, otherwise he will have some facial deformity.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing your grandson good health.

Pediatrician, Surgery Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Khan's  Response
thanks for the consultation.
Open mouth in children is due to big tonsils and adenoids. Adenoids and tonsils are police force or gate keeper for the germs to enter in the body. They eat the germs and interaction swell up.some time they are frequently infected and cause recurrent infection in these glands. They become atrophy at age of 20-30 years of age.
My advise is don't do anything if there is not frequent infection in it.
If the problem is severe and recurrent and child is suffering due to it then surgery is advised.
