Suggest Remedy For Severe Diarrhea Due To Vivatrol Injection
My brother just received a vivatrol injection and is having sever diarrhea. He went to the hospital and they gave him fluids for dehydration and a prescription for the diarrhea but it is not working. This has been going on for 6 days non stop. Is there something he can do to stop this?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Though rare, diarrhea is a described side effect of vivatrol injection. However, given the persistence of symptoms, other causes of diarrhea like digestive viral, bacterial and parasitic infections should be excluded.I will suggest you get a stool exam/culture.In the meantime, you may try the following: -Take oral rehydration salt to replenish the fluid and ions losses -Zinc tablets for facilitate intestinal repair -An anti-diarrheal like imodium -Fruits like bananas may help improve on the quality of your stool. From the results of the stool exams, other drugs may be added. Hope this will help Wish you a speedy recovery
