Suggest Remedy For Weight Gain Problem

I'm 39yrs old woman. I eat a healthy balanced diet working as a rule to the 80% to 20% rule. I train 5 nights a week doing Crossfit and walk the dog at least 4 miles a day. My weight gain is going through the roof. I've gone up nearly 3 sizes in the past year. I have a lot of water retention as I can press my finger into my lower legs and the indent will stay for at least 10sec. I have blood tests for my thyroid, menopause and diabeites and all are fine. My lower stomach is swollen. My GP has finally agreed to send me for a scan. I have been given water tablets but the retention is still there. I do have accupuncture in the hope this will help but so far with no avail. I also find that my body will react to something for approx a week then it's as if my body gets used to something i.e, detox, certain medication then after a week does not have any effects at all. It's as if my body absorbs things like a sponge. I really am at my wits end. Any advice would be great. Many Thanks

Hi I am Dr.Shreyash Mehta, MD community medicine

I hope my answer will solve your query.

Madam you did not mention your height. Your weight should roughly be (height in centimeters- 100) +/- 5. i.e. for a lady with 160 cm it should lie between 55 to 65 kg.

You said you have complaint of water retention in lower limbs. You walk about 6.5 km a day.
I advice you to get your self examined for your cardiovascular system and get through examination of your knee joint and other joints in the limbs.

You mentioned about water tablets. Please provide me the name of the drug.
