Hi Doc! I suspect that my son might have ADHD problems. Though the symptoms are not always constant, and he is doing good at school with no complaints, the general activities like restless ness and forgetful ness and inattention makes me think so. Is meditation a remedy to improve the situation.
Hi, Thanks for asking. I can understand your concerns. In addition to having symptoms, diagnosis of ADHD also requires the syptoms of ADHD to be present in more than two settings, i.e. home, school, social settings etc. Also the symptoms should be of such extent that it is affecting the functioning of the child. So in you r case I do not think he qualifies to be diagnosed as ADHD and hence no need of medication. You may try following things for his forgetfulness and restlessness. Train him to make simple check lists and how to use them. Use of timers will also help him. Ask him to do some physical activity when he feels restless. I hope I have helped you. Thank you.
Hi, thanks for asking. I can understand your concerns. ADHD diagnosis requires the symptoms to be present in more than two settings and it should be affecting the daily functioning of a child. So in my opinion your child does not seem to have ADHD. Try using a timer which goes off at regular interval for him to remind himself to continue the work if he is distracted. Teach him how to use check lists and planner for his forgetfulness. Mediation will improve his restlessness and is a good habit to instil in a child as such. I hope I have helped you. Thank you.
