Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Considering your age and rheumatoid arthritis the reason of your back pain can be due to degenerative process in lumbo sacral spine or sacro iliac joint arthritis. X ray of lumbo sacral spine is necessary to rule out such conditions. Sacro iliac joint arthritis can be diagnosed by injecting local corticosteroid in the region. Pain relief will be there if positive. I usually advice in my patients with such condition with vitamin d3, muscle relaxants like cyclobenzaprine, and NSAIDs. I also send them to physiotherapy and muscle strengthening exercises along with this. Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further queries.
