General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. For herniated disc i advise muscle relaxants like cyclobenzaprine NSAIDs like Aceclofenac or Opiods and Neurotropic drugs.I also send them for proper physiotherapy and muscle strengthening exercises along with this.Lumbar supporting belt for lumbar heniated disc is helpful also.It will take 1 month to maximum 6 months to get improvement. If no improvement after 6 months or if there is severe nerve compression syndromes you can go for surgical correction.Minimal invasive surgeries are available now.Microdiscectomy, chemonucleation,Laminectomy are some of surgeries done for this.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further queries.
