Suggest Treatment For Gout

My husband is a gout patient. On 22 nov, 2011, he was given amloguard 5 mg for high bp. His Uric acid levels was also high at that time . So he is taking feburic 80 in combination with amloguard 5 mg. But since he started both the tablets he is getting acute gout attacks with swollen ankles more than before. The irony is that his Uric acid level is now 2.5 , which used to be as high as 10 before taking feburic 80 ,and still he is getting gout attack. I feel that this is somewhere connected with amloguard because before also he used to take feburic, but since this november after starting amloguard the gout attacks increased very substantially. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your husband symptoms seem to be related to gout. I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve pain. I also suggest using medication to lower the uric acid levels such as Allopurinol 100 mg twice a day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
