Suggest Treatment For Hiatal Hernia

For several months my daughter age 21 has had extreme fatigue, weight gain, abdominal pain between the ribs and to the right, feels like there is tingling in the back directly behind the stomach pain, diarrahea, heartburn, muscle aches, and nausea within a few minutes after eating. A scope 4 years ago showed a hiatal hernia, neg colonoscopy. Statred a gluten free diet 2 years ago that helped with the symptoms. Also underactive thyroid. Endoscope repeated 2 days ago, told the hernia is measuring the same size, treated with dicyclomine for IBS

Hi thanks for contacting HCM...

According to history you have diagnosed with hiatus hernia and gluten hypersensitivity...

For hiatus hernia to prevent reflex take following measures.....
Low fat diet taken....
Excess spicy food avoided..
Head elevation while sleeping....
Avoid bending like prolonged posture that can aggravate reflux...
Omeprazole can be taken...

If symptoms more troublesome then surgical management done...

For celiac confirmation detect antiendomysial like antibody detection...and biopsy also useful...
For celiac disease gluten containing diet avoided like wheat , barley and rye...

If cramping more then dicyclomine given.
