Hi I don't really have symptoms except occasional tiredness but my TSH was 15, free T4 11, free T3 4.3 and antibodies 229. The endocrinologist diagnosed sub-clinical hypothyroidism and likely Hashimoto's. Although suggesting I start on 25mcg Levo-thyroxine, they left the decision to me. I've just turned 70 and am otherwise fit. My query is whether additional nutritional, exercise, lifestyle, and vitamin/mineral can rectify SH/Hashimotos, or am I kidding myself and will need thyroid hormone treatment? I read a research paper that stated, "No study has ever demonstrated that early L-thyroxine intervention improves the outcomes of subjects with SH." Your view would be much appreciated.
