Suggest Treatment For Itchy & Flaky Hair Scalp In Patients With Graves Disease

I had my hair colored 3 days ago. The next day, I noticed my scalp was extremely itchy and flaky, I seemed to have bumps all over my scalp tender to the touch, and then a painful lump behind my left ear. It hurts to turn my head to the right and is now associated with a frontal headache. I am 38, weigh 154lbs, was recently diagnosed with Graves disease. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I have read your query & understand your concern.
Graves disease is an autoimmune disease causing high levels of thyroid hormone affecting skin along with many other symptoms. It makes the skin delicate, thin, brittle along with brittle hairs.
You are complaining of scalp skin signs with itchy & flaky scalp. It seems to be due to secondary infection of the delicate skin due to graves disease. The infection mostly seems to be fungal in origin( that's why it's scaly/flaky/itchy).
The lymph behind your left ear is inflamed as a response to infection. that's why the painful bumps on scalp/behind ear /pain in turning ear.
the frontal ache you have seems to be allergic sinusitis (may be fungal /dust)/ affection of frontal skin by infection/ psychological stress / high blood pressure
To sort out the things you need to consult
-An Endocrinologist to settle your basic condition of Graves,
- Skin specialist for examination & treatment of the skin problem.( usually local applications for soothing & antifungal/antibiotic effect along with oral medicines as per skin condition Vitamin A/E & medicines to control graves are given )
Thanks.
