I am 27, 5ft 8 inches tall, 9 and a half stone, I have SLE, and fibromyalgia. Recently I ve been getting sudden cramps in legs and numbness too, the numbness is also in my arms and hands to the point where I sometimes drop things. I also get alot of floating objects in my vision and facial numbness (though I ve been told this is migraine related). The numbness in my legs and arms is new though, and is more like a tingling sensation
Peripheral neuropathy is a common complaint and occurs for many different reasons. There are several lab studies that I think you should look into having checked namely: Vitamin B12, Magnesium, and a Calcium level. Also, you should consider also asking your physician to order what's called Nerve Conduction Studies completed.
This will assist in identifying the underlying cause of the neuropathy. There are a number of prescription medications that can help with this but the actual cause needs to be identified first. In my experience taking over the counter Vitamin B12 replacement 1000 mcg daily and Magnesium Oxide 400mg taken once or twice daily can help alleviate the symptoms and is very safe to try.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
