Suggest Treatment For Pain And Burning Sensation In Shin Upper Ankle
I am a 32 year old woman. I am active, very healthy and athletic. 3 wks ago, I was wrestling with my kids and in the excitement, I was kicked hard in the lower shin-upper ankle. I immediately felt a burning sensation. I ignored it until a couple of hours later. I pulled up my pant leg and noticed that I had a huge lump on my shin. It was the size of a softball. I iced my shin for a few hours and then went to bed. The next day it was very tender and bruised. My bruise has definitely done the typical color changes that you would expect as I heal, but my leg is still super tender and my swelling has not gone away, but moved around. I m concerned. I m curious if there is anything that I should do to speed this all along. Should I be concerned. Thanks. -Melissa
Your symptoms could be related to a ruptured ligament. Does it hurt when you walk? I would recommend consulting with an orthopedist for a physical exam and an X-ray study, just to be sure that it is just local inflammation and not anything serious.
