Suggest Treatment For Sickness And Drowsiness While Treated For Tracheoesophageal Fistula
Hi My 15yr old son was born with Trachea esophageal fistula with atresia had the repair at one day old, since then had nurmerous dilatations, for about the last three months he has become very sick, lost about 20lbs in weight and is now sleeping all the time and very weak? We had him in hospital 3 weeks ago and he had a dialatation, thinking this would fix the problem, he is getting worse to the point now he cant eat as he feels so sick! He had two CT scans on Fri and we are waiting results, they have him on Nexium, reglan and are treating him with an antibiotic for lymes even though the lymes test was negative! What else should we be doing? I have him drinking two ensure weight gains a day and thats about all he can handle! Please help..thank you!

Your query being appreciated, it was the years passed since the repaired was done and the present complaint may not be due to that, some time it may be due to some chronic infection, it may be due to mal-absorption syndrome, condition really need some work up to find out the real cause of the symptoms of weight loss and excessive sleep, if the 20ibs being lost then it is matter of concern, it demands totally work up, all the systemic causes needs to be ruled out hope this information helps.
