Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Bruising On Hand After An Injury

My Husband just hit the top of his hand while he was trying to put a radiator in. The main vein on the top is swelling and bruising quickly he thinks he may have blown it. Does he need to seek medical treatment or will ice pack and pressure be okay. He said something about a blood clot too?

Hello,
Thanks for your query.
swelling may be due to either soft tissue injury like muscle or ligament damage or it may be due to fracture of bone,so better confirm with digital x-ray as only hairline crack may not be clearly visible in normal x ray.do icing for 10 minutes continuously 2 hour interval .within 48 hours after injury u should do the icing then go for hot water dip.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
