Suggest Treatment For Swelling In Ankle

Hi, I fell in the shower 5 days ago and hit my shin pretty bad. My entire leg has been swollen and bruised but seems to be getting better slowly. But today I have had pretty bad swelling and bruising around my both sides of my ankle. Is this normal? Should I be concerned about a blood clot? I don t have any new pain and I can walk just fine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to the ankle injury .
I suggest to:
-Avoid activities that cause pain, swelling or discomfort. -Use an ice pack or ice slush bath immediately for 15 to 20 minutes and repeat every two to three hours while you're awake.
-To help stop swelling, compress the ankle with an elastic bandage until the swelling stops.
-Elevate the ankle.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
